The central program content of the apostolic visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to the Republic of North Macedonia, the holy mass, took place on square “Makedonija” in the presence of the highest state officials among whom President Gjorge Ivanov, Prime Minister Zaev and ministers in the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, diplomatic corps and civil society.
Before numerous believers from the Catholic Church from the country, the region and Europe, Pope Francis officiated with the holy mass, together with the cardinals and bishops from Vatican, as well as with the priests from the Skopje Bishopric of the Catholic Church in North Macedonia.
After reading from the gospels and the prayers from the holy mass during the preparation for the communion rite, Pope Francis addressed the messages from the homily in which he underlined that “God came to give life to the world inviting us to pass onto a new horizon coming from Jesus, the bread of heaven and who said he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst”.
“Let us say loudly and without fear: we are hungry, God… We are hungry, God, for the bread of your gospel, capable to open our reticence and our loneliness; we are hungry, God, for a brotherhood where the indifference, discrediting, defamation will not fill our tables and will not take the main place in our home. We are hungry, God, for meetings in which your gospel will raise hope, will awaken the sensibility, will feel the heart, by opening ways for transformation and address”, said pope Francis in his homily during the holy sermon.
Pope Francis underlined that during each Holy Eucharist, Holy Communion; God divides himself for us, and thus, invites us to divide ourselves together with him:
“Let us participate in the miracle of God who wants to come and reach each corner of this city, of this country, of this land of grace and compassion”, said Pope Francis during the Holy Mass within the frames of the apostolic visit to the Republic of North Macedonia.
